I absolutely love when my clients return again and again, especially when it means seeing just how much their little one has grown. I had the joy of capturing this sweet family’s newborn session not long ago, so meeting up again for their family session felt like reconnecting with old friends.

And wow, what a difference a few months makes!

Baby boy has grown so much since I last saw him, and his personality is already shining through. He is a total daddy’s boy, and watching their bond was such a highlight of the session. It’s always so meaningful to capture those genuine connections as they naturally unfold.

We met at Cooper Mountain Nature Park, a beautiful location with a mix of open space and protected natural areas. One of the things I love most about this spot is that while much of it is preserved, there are designated trails that are perfect for photography, allowing us to create beautiful images while respecting the environment. Ticks can definitely be something to watch out for here, but thankfully, we didn’t run into any during our time together.

From the start, this family brought such a great energy. Mom has some modeling experience, and it absolutely showed—she moved so naturally and brought an effortless elegance to every frame. She is truly stunning, and paired with the relaxed, playful dynamic of their little family, it made for such a beautiful combination.

Dad was all in too, fully embracing the session. Somewhere along the way, he stepped in dog poop—and none of us noticed at the time. It wasn’t until I got home and started editing that I realized what had happened. The good news? A little editing magic goes a long way, and you’d never know from the final images.

Like many sessions with babies, we had a few moments of fussiness, but that’s all part of the process. Instead of fighting it, we leaned into what baby needed. A favorite toy helped grab his attention when we needed those bright-eyed moments, and we balanced that with plenty of snuggly, comfort-filled poses. Those quieter, close-up moments often end up being the most meaningful anyway.

This session felt like such a perfect blend of real life and beautiful storytelling—capturing not just how this season looks, but how it feels. The in-between moments, the cuddles, the little challenges, and the laughter; they all came together to tell their story in the most genuine way.

I’m so grateful I got to see this family again and document this next chapter for them. Watching families grow and being invited back to capture it is truly one of the best parts of what I do.
