Outdoor Maternity Session at Graham Oaks Nature Park | Beaverton Maternity Photographer

I love getting to document a familyโ€™s story as it grows, and this one has been years in the making. I first met this sweet family when their oldest was just a newborn, and now, nearly four years later, theyโ€™re preparing to welcome their baby boy. Watching clients come back year after year is one of the most meaningful parts of what I do.

For this session, we met at Graham Oaks Nature Park, one of my favorite locations for maternity sessions in the Wilsonville area. Spring showed off in the best way: lush, vibrant greens, golden light, and little pops of yellow wildflowers tucked throughout the trails.

Big sister (almost four!) came along and completely stole the show. She was so excited about her baby brother, full of energy, curiosity, and the sweetest moments in between. We kept things relaxed and playful, letting her explore while naturally weaving in those connection-filled moments with mom and dad. Thatโ€™s always the goal, especially with toddlers. No pressure, just space to be themselves.

Their outfits were the perfect example of how to keep things simple but elevated. Soft neutrals paired with denim and dark blue created a cohesive look that photographed beautifully against the spring landscape. Nothing overly styled, just timeless, comfortable pieces that let the connection stand out.

We timed their session for golden hour, which is always my favorite for outdoor maternity photos. That soft, glowy light adds so much warmth and depth, especially during spring when everything feels fresh and alive.

As a Beaverton, Oregon maternity photographer serving the greater Portland metro, sessions like this are exactly why I love what I do. Documenting not just a moment, but the continuation of a familyโ€™s story, including the anticipation, the transition, and all the in-between.

Iโ€™m already counting down the days until I get to meet their baby boy and capture those early newborn moments. Itโ€™s always such an honor to be invited back into these seasons again and again.

Planning Your Own Maternity Session

If youโ€™re expecting and looking for a maternity photographer in Wilsonville, Beaverton, or the surrounding Portland area, I recommend scheduling your session between 28โ€“34 weeks. Outdoor locations like Graham Oaks Nature Park are especially beautiful in the spring and summer months, offering open fields, natural trails, and that dreamy golden light.

Keeping outfits simple (think soft neutrals, earthy tones, and minimal patterns) helps create a timeless, cohesive look that keeps the focus on your connection.
