Maternity Sessions

Your session is designed to feel easy, relaxed, and true to your family. We’ll start by easing into things with no pressure and no stiff posing. I’ll gently guide you with prompts that promote natural movement and connection. Think walking, holding your bump, snuggling your little ones, and simply being together.

If your partner or kids are joining, we’ll keep things playful and flexible. Toddlers especially are free to explore, take breaks, and just be themselves. Some of the sweetest moments come from those in-between interactions.

If we’re outdoors, we’ll plan your session around golden hour for that soft, glowy light.

What should I expect at my session?

You can choose between a studio, in-home, or outdoor session. I photograph maternity sessions throughout Beaverton, Hillsboro and the greater Portland metro, and I’m always happy to suggest locations with beautiful, natural light.

The studio offers soft light, bright whites, and a simple, modern feel. It is a great option year-round, but is especially nice in the winter months when outdoor sessions can be tough to fit in between the rain.

In-home is a great way to incorporate a very cozy vibe that perfectly tells your story and captures you as you are.

Outdoor sessions are the most common, and I have lots of location ideas if you don't have something in mind.

Where do sessions take place?

Most families book during their second trimester to ensure availability. Sessions are typically scheduled between 28–34 weeks, when your belly is nicely defined but you’re still feeling comfortable.

While you're at it, I recommend booking your newborn session or milestone collection at the same time!

When should I book my maternity session?

Think soft, simple, and comfortable. I always recommend starting with a neutral color palette, like creams, tans, soft grays, muted blues, or earthy tones. These colors photograph beautifully and keep the focus on your connection rather than your clothing.

Flowy dresses, cozy knits, and pieces with gentle movement tend to work especially well for maternity sessions. The goal is to feel like yourself, just a slightly elevated version.

For partners and little ones, choose outfits that complement rather than match. Denim, soft textures, and layers photograph naturally and add just enough variety without feeling busy. Avoid bold patterns, large logos, or anything overly bright, as these can distract from the overall feel of your images.
