There’s nothing sweeter than a baby at that 6 month stage! Those sweet smiles, chubby cheeks, and the moment babies start sitting up and really showing their personalities. This sitter session at Satori Collective in Sherwood, Oregon was the perfect blend of simple, meaningful, and full of love.
This family chose a minimal, clean setup, letting their baby (and their connection as a family) be the focus.
A Simple, Timeless Studio Setup
For this session, we used the studio’s classic white backdrop to create a bright, timeless look.
Minimal sessions like this are always a favorite because nothing distracts from what matters most: your baby’s expressions, little movements, and all those in-between moments.
Baby wore the cutest little denim dress, which paired so beautifully with the white background. Denim is one of those textures that photographs so well – it adds just enough depth and contrast while still keeping everything soft and cohesive.
Including the Whole Family
One of the sweetest parts of this session was having the whole family there, including mom, dad, and big sister.
At 2.5 years old, big sister did such an amazing job. She was so patient about giving baby her time in front of the camera, but also jumped in for photos when it was time. That balance is exactly what you hope for with toddlers, and she handled it like a pro.
We made sure to capture a mix of:
- Individual photos of baby
- Sibling photos
- Full family moments
And I have to say… the sibling photos might be my favorite. There’s just something about that bond at this age. They are so sweet, a little silly, and completely genuine.
Why the 6 Month Stage is So Special
The sitter stage is one of the most popular milestone sessions for a reason.
Around 6–8 months, babies are:
- Sitting independently
- Full of smiles and personality
- Not quite mobile yet (which makes sessions a little easier!)
It’s such a fun window to capture before they’re on the move, and it gives you a beautiful snapshot of who they are in this phase.
